“Abkhazetoba,” public festivity closed at the ethnographic museum.

Presentation of Abkhazian oda (wooden house) ‘Akuaska’ started the festivity; society introduced to the expositions of the nobleman Anchabadze’s house.

The Abkhazian oda restored within the limits of the joint project of UNESCO, the Norwegian Directorate of Cultural Heritage and the National Museum of Georgia “Restoration and Revitalization of the Giorgi Chitaia Open Air Museum of Ethnography.”

American and European prominent museums hosted Georgian National Museum’s Exhibition of archeological discoveries from Vani.

Exhibition presented Georgian National Museum’s unique 150 exponents of antic period (V,VI, III BC.)

Exponents included: golden and sliver jewelry, bronze and metal statues, tools, items of everyday use, cult-ritual items, pottery dishes, glass necklaces and vials.

New archaeological discovery in Tbilisi22.10.2009.

 Graves of Nakhulbakevi

On October 12thnorthern part of Digomi valley, also known as Nakhulbakevi, was a place where archaeologists discovered 3000 years old unique burial grounds.

Tbilisi Mayer Gigi Ugulava and Director General of the Georgian National Museum, David Lordkipanidze  attended the event of inaugurating the discovery.

Nkhulbakevi grounds supply important scientific information about the burying rituals. Scientifists of Georgian National Museum’s Archaeological Research Centre, leading by Mikheil Abramishvili have been working at the excavations.


Traditional Japanese Dolls 20.10.2009.

The Georgian National Museum and the Embassy of Japan in Georgia in the Tbilisi History Museum presents its first cultural event, the exhibition of traditional Japanese dolls.

 

This is the first exhibition of Japanese dolls here in Tbilisi and represents a great opportunity of introducing this aspect of Japanese culture and art in Georgia.

 Dolls presented on this exhibition are from the private collection of Mrs. Ambassador – Junko Kamohara.

Tbilisi history museum host the photo exhibition of famous Georgian poet Irakli Abashidze(1909-1992).

The exhibition dedicated to Irakli Abashidze’s 100th jubilee.

Organizers of the exhibition are: The Ministry of Culture, Monument Protection and Sport, Georgian National Museum and The Georgian National Academy of Sciences.
