Exhibition of Pirosmani20.05.2009.

 On the occasion of the International Day of Museums, Niko Pirosmani's personal exhibiton was opened at at the Sh. Amiranashvili Museum of Fine Arts.

34 works from the Fine Arts Museum collections are presented at the exhibition. The renovated exhibition hall of the Museum is equipped with the modern systems of electricity and climate-control.


Presentation of achievements and future plans19.05.2009.

 The Présentation of the achievements and the future plans of Georgian National Museum was held at the Auditorium of the National Museum regarding to the International Museum Day, May 18.

The meeting was chaired by David Lordkipanidze, General Director of Georgian National Museum and Christian Manhart, UNESCO’s Chief of Section for Museums and Cultural Objects.


May 18 is the International Museum Day13.05.2009.

According to the decision of the International Council of Museums ICOM, since 1977 International Museum Day is celebrated across the world on May 18. On this day open days, scientific conferences and other events are held in museums of 150 countries.

Georgian National Museum joins the event and offers an interesting celebration week.

Beyond Boredom, Dust and Decay - Museums as Life Long Learning Spaces for Intercultural Dialogue (A-MUSE-ALL)16.04.2009.

Within the programme of the European Commission “Investing in People: Access to local culture, protection and promotion of cultural diversity” the new project “Beyond Boredom, Dust and Decay - Museums as Life Long Learning Spaces for Intercultural Dialogue (A-MUSE-ALL)” has been launched as of 2009. 

It is a regional project to operate in Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia and in the Russian Federation over a period of 30 months. Implemented by the Institute for International Cooperation of the German Adult Education Association (dvv international) and following eight partners from the target regions: Armenian Association of Museum Workers and Friends (AMWF), Armenian Scientific and Educational Centre for National Development (SECND), Azerbaijan National Committee of the International Council of Museums (ICOM), The State Museum of Azerbaijan Carpet and Applied Art, Georgian National Museum Friends Association (GNMFA), Adult Education Association of Georgia (AEAG), Centre of Traditional Culture (Tosno, Russia) and the Karelian Centre of Culture (Petrozavodsk, Russia). The project in co-funded by the European Commission and the German Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ). Its overall budget amounts to 550.000 EUR.


Italian Style30.03.2009.

 From March 27, till April 27, the Georgian National Museum, Italian Embassy in Georgia and the Sartirana Foundation  presented the exhibition "Italian Style-Clothes and furniture".

Original masterpieses of great Italian designers are exhibited in Tbilisi History Museum. Items of Kartell, Mirabili, Zanotta are the result of prductive collaboration with architects of famous innovative comapnies-Molino, Terani, Castiglioni, Cheroly, Ontani and others.


Picasso in Georgia27.03.2009.

 2009 year is considered to be Picasso’s year and his masterpieces are planned to be exhibited in famous museums worldwide.

Georgia will host Picassos works from 30 May till 6 September. Organizers of the exhibition are Georgian National Museum and General Council of Ion department of France.

Partners of the exhibition are the Ministry of Culture, Monument Protection and Sport of Georgia, the Embassy of France in Georgia, Tbilisi City Hall, the Ministry of Culture and Education of Achara, the Bank Republic and the Regional Administration of Kakheti.

 

Exhibition will be presented in three different towns of Georgia: Signagi, Tbilisi and Batumi.


exhibition of Ana Shalikashvili 27.03.2009.

 On March 12th 2009 the first personal exhibition of Ana Shalikashvili was opened in Tbilisi History Museum. The exhibition is  dedicated to painters 90th anniversary.

The painter was born in kutaisi in 1919. 1936-1942 studies at the Tbilisi State Art Academy. She is taught by David Kakabadze, Valerian Sidamon-Eristavi, Tamar Abakelia, Sergo Kobuladze. 1947  works at the film studio, at first as multiplier and next ten years as a chief painter. Collaborates with Mikheil Chiaureli.
